About AAOS Transactions
AAOS Transactions is an open-access online journal newly established in 2022 by the Academic Association for Organizational Science (AAOS). It represents a progressive renaming and development of the former “Proceedings of the Annual Conference of the Academic Association for Organizational Science,” aiming to enhance the journal’s international visibility and the timeliness of dissemination.
Our journal’s mission is to rapidly communicate the latest findings in Japanese organizational studies, primarily based on research presented at AAOS’s annual conferences and regional study groups (Chubu, Kansai, and Kyushu regions). The journal publishes peer-reviewed articles quarterly (in February, May, August, and November), while making use of the J-STAGE Advance Publication system to provide immediate access to accepted articles.
By actively publishing papers of academic merit that have historically been underrepresented in conventional top-tier journals, AAOS Transactions aims to invigorate the organizational studies field. Specifically, we feature a broad range of works, including proposals of nascent theoretical perspectives, detailed case studies, original empirical research reports, and comprehensive literature reviews summarizing critical themes.
Distinctive Features of AAOS Transactions
AAOS Transactions holds clear characteristics and editorial policies, establishing its unique presence within organizational research through the following features:
1. Publishing Papers that Deliver “Novel Value”
In addition to mature theories and well-established research topics favored by top journals, AAOS Transactions actively publishes innovative research demonstrating novelty and potential, even if not yet fully matured. We also place significant value on meticulous empirical research and survey-based studies that offer practical insights relevant to real-world practice. By doing so, our journal presents diverse and unique findings rarely encountered in existing publications.
2. Emphasis on Readability and Clarity in Paper Structure
Our journal emphasizes concise yet comprehensive exploration of clearly defined topics. Papers must adhere to a specified template (A4 size), and the main text is limited to 4–10 pages. Additionally, abstracts and keywords should be within one page, with reference lists not exceeding three pages. This structure enables busy readers to quickly grasp the core arguments and findings of each paper.
3. Commitment to International Standards
To meet international academic journal standards, we require submissions to adhere strictly to the APA (American Psychological Association) referencing style. Furthermore, ensuring research ethics and transparency, all authors are required to submit their manuscripts to Jxiv (a preprint server operated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency) and obtain a DOI. By enhancing transparency in the peer-review process, we clearly articulate standards for authors.
4. Swift Dissemination via Early Online Publication
Accepted articles become immediately accessible on J-STAGE as “Advance Online Publications,” without awaiting scheduled journal issues. By promptly disseminating the latest research outcomes in organizational studies, AAOS Transactions significantly contributes to facilitating knowledge exchange and fostering dynamic academic discussion among scholars.
Regarding Plagiarism Check
AAOS Transactions requires pre-registration on Jxiv to ensure research transparency and integrity. This policy helps establish the originality of research and enhances its academic credibility.
